Project Description

Over summer of 2021, I had the amazing opportunity to work on Returnal for PC as a graphics programmer. During my time as part of the rendering team at Climax Studios, I was responsible for carrying out performance profiling of the game, analysing the codebase and identifying possible causes and solutions to frame rate stutters.

This experience was incredibly insightful, exposing me to a wide range of industry-standard profiling tools and debugging techniques. Optimizing such a visually intensive game taught me the complexities of balancing high-fidelity graphics, gameplay and physics simulations with consistent performance. The team at Climax was incredible too - I learned so much just from working alongside such talented developers, and they made my time there truly memorable.
